An approach that is used on this website is that of Single-Subject Experimental Design (SSED), also known as Single-Subject Research Design (SSRD). It is a relatively simple approach that has a long history that can be traced back to some of the original psychological studies in the 1800s. The SSED approach can also be used for finding out what works for our own wellness. The SSED allows us to use our own measurements for both the control and the experiment.
The videos below talk about advantages of the Single Subject Research Design over the more traditional group research designs that have been more commonly used in science. She explains the advantages in the context of a professional researcher or psychologist who is preparing for an exam that uses this approach.
